RIPON, Wis. -- The Sabercats fought to the finish tonight but took a heavy 5-0 loss at Ripon College tonight, falling under the lights at the brand-new Hopp Stadium.

The loss is the final away game for at least a month for MBU, who finish the season with three straight home games before NCCAA Regionals.

OVERVIEW

  • Result: Maranatha 0-5 Ripon
  • Venue: Hopp Stadium - Ripon College
  • Location: Ripon, Wisconsin
  • Attendance: 87
  • Record: MBU (1-12-0), RC (4-4-5)

STORY

The Red Hawks piled on the pressure early, relentlessly keeping the ball in the Sabercats' end. Ripon relied on long-range efforts to break through, as three long shots from 25 yards or longer made for three goals in the first half. Eli Dietzel, Andre Robertson, and Kaleb Schroeder all blasted their shots into the corner to put the hard-working hosts on top 3-0 going into halftime.

The second-half story was "rinse and repeat" as the Red Hawks kept the pressure on the Sabercats and never let up. Ripon relied on their long-range shooting once again, but this time, they score off of rebounds from their long-range attempts. One goal came off a rebound from an Ian Balyo save, and the other was a tap-in after a long shot caromed off the crossbar.

When it was all said and done, the Red Hawks' distance game was the difference-maker, as Ripon picked up their second win of the season over MBU.
