WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The Buena Vista Beavers outlasted the Sabercats tonight, taking home a 5-1 win thanks to a second-half scoring onslaught.

Joseph Greene provided the goal for Maranatha, who will have the weekend to rest before facing Andrews University on Tuesday afternoon.

STORY

The first half was tightly contested, as the Sabercats held the Beavers scoreless with some determined defending. The breakthrough finally came in the 39th minute, as Eduardo Garcia curled in a free kick from almost 30 yards to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

Buena Vista persisted in the early stages of the second half and would go on to score three goals in quick succession to put the game all but out of reach. The only goal of the day for Maranatha came from Joseph Greene, who slammed in a rebound off a shot from Michael Doese. The Sabercats had one back, but they still had a mountain to climb.

In response, Buena Vista countered at the other end to punch in their fifth goal of the day, putting the finishing touches on a back-and-forth battle. BVU's Kendall Bickford led the scoring for the visitors, notching two well-struck goals in the second half.
