GLENDALE, Wis. -- The red-hot Cardinal Stritch Wolves kept the Sabercats out of reach tonight, winning a doubleheader in Glendale thanks to another no-hitter from Sophia Salazar.

The Sabercats turn their attention to tomorrow afternoon for a doubleheader at Beloit College, scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in Beloit, Wisconsin.

OVERVIEW

  • Results: Maranatha 0-26 Cardinal Stritch (5 innings)
  • Results: Maranatha 1-16 Cardinal Stritch (5 innings)
  • Venue: Maslowski Community Park
  • Location: Glendale, Wis.
  • Records: MBU (0-10), CSU (11-4)

STORY

Sophia Salazar was just as much a part of the story as was the Wolves' hitting in game one. For the second season in a row, Salazar pitched a no-hitter against the Sabercats while fanning 14 batters. She didn't stop there, as Salazar homered in a 2-3 showing at the plate, notching five RBIs on the day to fuel a 26-0 win for the hosts. Cardinal Stritch did the most damage in the third, scoring 10 runs in the at-bat.

The Sabercats managed to get on the board in game two, but the Wolves showed why they've won nine of their last 11 games, as they started with a seven-run statement in their opening at-bat. The Wolves eventually took advantage of seven Sabercats errors to plate 16 runs in their second win of the day.

Krysten Lawver provided the only RBI on the day for MBU when she plated Dani Chaney in the fourth. Chaney had reached first on a single, which was one of three hits on the day for the Blue and Gold.
