STORY

It was a rough night all around for Maranatha. The Sabercats started the game unusually slow, which ultimately led to their 46-59 defeat.

In the first quarter, Maranatha showed mediocre defense, which the Blue Angels used to their advantage, grabbing five easy layups and drawing three shooting fouls against the Sabercats. On the other end of the court, Maranatha went only 1/14 from the field, their only bucket coming from Kyria Teachout who ended up finishing the night with eight points. Chloe Steuerwald sunk a couple of free throws in the last minute of the first quarter which gave the Sabercats a score of 4-15 at the first buzzer.

The second quarter proved to be the best quarter of the night for the Sabercats. They were able to knock down 8/18 shots and draw three shooting fouls. This was the only quarter in which the Sabercats outscored Mount Mary (20-16), yet Maranatha still went into the locker room with some ground to make up, trailing 24-31.

The difference maker in the second half came down to free throws. Both teams finished the half with nine successful buckets, yet the Sabercats lack of offensive agression only gave them two trips to the line, where they went 2/3. Mount Mary on the other hand went 10/12 in the second half from the line.

Lindsay Miikkelson led the Sabercats on the night, finishing with 13-points and tying her career high that was set in Maranatha's previous game against Grace Christian.
