Holbrook, Renz Tabbed as Student-Athletes of the Week

WATERTOWN, Wis. - Katie Holbrook and Alison Renz have been named as Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week of October 3rd. For both athletes, this was the second time this season that they were given the honor, and it was the first time this year that Holbrook was simultaneously named NCCAA and AD3I Student-Athlete of the Week.

Renz was the go-to attacker for the Sabercats, who went 2-0 last week while defeating Alverno College and Wisconsin Lutheran College at home. Renz - who was forced to deal with a triple block - still managed to register 26 kills and 12 blocks on the week as the Sabercats did not drop a set. Renz currently leads the AD3I in kills per set, hitting percentage, and all three blocking categories, and is second in the AD3I in kills. Renz also leads the NCCAA North Region in kills per set and blocks per set.

Holbrook - who earned double honors - broke the Maranatha school record by running a 24:13 6K at the Lucian Rosa Invitational hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday. Holbrook actually broke the same record two weeks ago at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational when she ran a 24:20 6K, but the Whitewater native beat her own record last Saturday for good measure. This is Holbrook's third year as a runner for the Sabercats, and the NCCAA All-American will look to raise her own bar even higher in preparation for NCCAA Nationals in the second week of November.

Holbrook's time at the Lucian Rosa Invitational is the fastest recorded time for any runner in the NCCAA DII so far during the 2016 season.
