WATERTOWN, Wis -- A first-half goal from Megan Prigge wasn't enough today, as the Sabercats fell at home 1-11 to an onslaught from Wisconsin Lutheran College.

The Warriors scored five goals in the first half and added six in the second, as the Sabercats fall to 0-3-0 for the 2022 season.

  • Venue: Maranatha Baptist University
  • Location: Watertown, Wis.
  • Attendance:
  • Record: MBU (0-3-0), WLC (2-3-0)

STORY

The Warriors pressured the Sabercats in the early stages, forcing eight saves out of Mallory Willette in the opening few minutes. The Warriors' pressure paid off with the opening goal in the 17th minute, but the Sabercats had an answer just 40 seconds later.

After Aubrey Secor fought off a defender and chipped it to the middle of the box, Prigge snapped a shot that was saved by the Wisconsin Lutheran goalkeeper but fell invitingly near the goal line. Prigge reacted quicker than anyone to slam it in from close range and tie the game with the Sabercats' first goal of the season.

But the celebrations would end there for the Sabercats in the first half. The closest they came was a well-struck shot from Chelsea Graham that flew just over the crossbar, but the first half was all about the Warriors. The visitors put four more goals past Maranatha to take a 5-1 halftime lead.

Wisconsin Lutheran wasted no time in the second half, scoring two goals in the opening seven minutes. From there, there was no looking back, as the Warriors put the finishing touches on the 11-1 lead to stay well ahead of the Sabercats through the remainder of the 90 minutes.
