WATERTOWN, Wis -- Monmouth College was polished from start to finish this afternoon, dishing out an 11-0 loss to the Sabercats on the Maranatha campus.

The Sabercats will look to pick up their first win of the season during a difficult early-season schedule when they travel to Trinity International next Thursday.

OVERVIEW

  • Result: Maranatha 0-11 Monmouth
  • Venue: Maranatha Baptist University
  • Location: Watertown, Wis.
  • Attendance: 47
  • Record: MBU (0-5-0), MC (2-4-0)

STORY

The Scots scored in spurts in the first half, as they got on the board with two well-worked free kick services around the 12-minute mark. The Sabercats' defense stood strong and Mallory Willette made some key saves to maintain momentum, but two more strikes - both within a minute of each other - made it a 4-0 game going into halftime.

The Scots were in front and were showing no signs of slowing down.

Once the visitors got into a rhythm it was difficult to do anything about it. Monmouth's accuracy and efficiency on attack were too much for the Sabercats to handle, and the Scots put the inexorable finishing touches on the 11-0 win.

Aubrey Secor made an appearance in goal for the Sabercats, making two saves in 20 minutes between the pipes.
