MILWAUKEE -- After the Finlandia match was canceled today, the Sabercats were swept by Calumet to end the weekend.

Mattie Bumpus recorded 13 kills and freshman Sarah Wright tallied 13 digs in the loss.

STORY 

With the second match of Saturday against Finlandia being canceled, the Sabercats faced the difficult Calumet Crimson Wave at 9:30 a.m. to finish the Mount Mary Autumn Classic. The difficulty spike was evident from the start of the match as Calumet jumped out to a 10-4 lead. Kills from Emily Johnson and Liberty Bailey helped bring the score within three points again, but the Crimson Wave ran away with the set toward the end and secured the 1-0 lead with a 25-18 win.

The Sabercats battled in the second set and ran out to a 14-7 lead. Caitrin KemloMattie BumpusMelanie Woller, and Johnson pounded kills into the opponent's floor to fuel the offense, but Calumet rallied to tie the set at 23 late. On the set point with Calumet up 24-23, Kemlo was able to secure the tiebreaker, but the opponents forced attack errors from Maranatha to win 26-24.

Calumet proved they'd had enough of Maranatha in the third set, going on a 16-7 run to finish off the match. With a 9-6 lead, the Crimson Wave pummeled the Sabercats' side of the floor to secure the sweep to end the Autumn Classic for Maranatha.

In the loss, Bumpus tallied 13 kills, while Sarah Wright and Bailey led the defense with 13 digs and 10 digs respectively. Johnson served up 16 assists, followed by Megan Miller with 11 assists.
