Sabercats No Match for Explosive Trojans

DEERFIELD, Ill. --- The Sabercats continued their difficult early-season schedule with a pair of losses to the hard-hitting Trojans of Trinity International University, falling 1-15 and 0-10 through two five-inning games.

With the losses, the Sabercats fall to 2-8 while the Trojans improve to 5-13.

The Trojans exploded in the third inning of game one at Heritage Park, as they punished Sabercat miscues to post 10 runs in the bottom of the third inning to take control of the game. (0-10)

Hannah May's base hit in the fourth inning led to Katelyn Hockema crossing the plate for MBU, but that was all that MBU was allowed, as Grace Magnuson put in a solid outing in the circle for TIU. (1-10)

TIU responded with five more runs in the fourth inning, and after they shut out the Sabercats in the top of the fifth, the game was ended per the run rule. (1-15)

In the second game, the Trojans chipped away through the first four innings, posting three runs in both the second and the third innings before adding four more in the fourth. TIU benefited from four Sabercat errors that led to runs scored for the Trojans.

Brooke Campbell recorded two hits, but the Sabercats could only manage three total en route to another five-inning loss.

The Sabercats look to next week with anticipation, as they are slated for three doubleheaders on the week.

The first of which will be a 3:00 p.m. start in Rockford, Ill. on Tuesday, April 4. Catch live coverage and game information at mbusabercats.com.
