GRAYSON, Ky. -- After going down by 2 goals in the first half, the Sabercats came back to battle to a 3-3 tie with the Johnson University Royals this afternoon.

Shari Moore notched her first career goal, and Alexis Sponable and Alison Hernandez added the others in the 3-3 tie. The Sabercats turned 2 corner kicks into goals in today's game.

Sponable opened the scoring, as she calmly and emphatically finished a breakaway into the right corner. The goal was Sponable's 10th goal in as many games, as she added to what has been an impressive rookie goalscoring campaign.

That goal from the freshman seemed to light a fire under the Royals, as they responded immediately to tie the game at 1, then added 2 more goals over the next 10 minutes to take a 3-1 advantage at the half-hour mark.

Despite going down 3-1, the Sabercats responded positively just 3 minutes later when Shari Moore nabbed her first collegiate goal. After Bethany Chesky took a short corner kick with Alyssa Wright, Chesky sent a perfect ball over the goalkeeper towards the back post, where an alert Moore got in front of her defender and simply tapped the ball into the far corner to put the Royals within reach.

At halftime, the score was 3-2 in favor of Johnson.

The Royals stayed in front until the midway point through the second half, when Alison Hernandez scored a header - an act she has performed multiple times in her career as a Sabercat. Alexis Sponable sent the ball towards the back post, and Hernandez nodded it through a narrow gap between a Royals defender and the right post. Three all.

Neither team was able to find the game-winner for the remainder of the 90 minutes, and the game would end at that point in a 3-3 tie.

The Sabercats will face the Lady Knights of Kentucky Christian University at 1:15 p.m. Eastern tomorrow. Catch the details at mbusabercats.com/composite.
