CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Sabercats got on the board first today but suffered their sixth straight loss, falling 1-8 at Coe College.

Amelia Schroeder scored her fourth goal of the season, set up by Megan Prigge, but a goal-scoring spree of six in 20 minutes fueled the big win for the Kohawks.

STORY

Schroeder's goal came from the only shot of the game for the Sabercats, but the freshman made it count. The Sabercats picked up possession of the ball in midfield, and Prigge's pass to Schroeder was perfectly weighted, setting up a shot behind the Kohawk's back line. Schroeder ran onto it and made no mistake with her breakaway, finishing into the bottom-right corner to put the Sabercats ahead against the odds.

That early goal seemed to poke the bear, as it were, as the Kohawks eventually responded with a scoring streak of their own, which was highlighted by six goals in a 20-minute span on either side of halftime. The hosts ran on to add two more late in the second half to seal the 8-1 win.
