MADISON, Wis. -- The Sabercats clashed with two seasoned NACC opponents today and saw a 6-match winning streak come to an end at the Edgewood Triangular.

The Sabercats took 0-3 losses to both Concordia-Chicago and Edgewood inside of the Todd Wehr Edgedome, and the two NACC contenders proved why they hold top-4 conference rankings.

The Cougars of Concordia-Chicago were polished from start to finish, as they handed the Sabercats the loss in the early-afternoon match. CUC boasted a well-balanced 5-1 rotation, and they frustrated the Sabercats' attempts at offensive momentum from start to finish with 8 blocks and 60 digs as a team.

Alexis Bueltel grabbed 10 kills to lead the offensive efforts, and Katie Bender and Claire Hansel both tallied double-digit digs. Karley Johnson (10 assists) and Kelsey Johnson (12 assists) dished out some nice sets, but MBU's efforts ultimately fell short. Some errors plagued the Sabercats in the match, as they had 27 miscues in the 3-set endeavor.

The Sabercats felt they deserved more than a 0-3 loss in the second match, as they took the first set into a tie before tallying 38 points in the final 2 sets combined. The Sabercats had just 7 hitting errors but were frustrated by a well-balanced Eagle defense. The hard-hitting hosts had 3 players with double-digit kills, as their powerful offense proved to be the difference-maker in the end.

Alexis Bueltel and Madeline Suderman recorded 9 kills each. The Johnson twins both logged double-digit assists once again, and Katie Bender registered 12 digs in the match.

The Sabercats' next test will be Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Wisconsin Lutheran College. This will be the second time the Sabercats have faced the Warriors this season, as MBU topped WLC 3-0 at home on September 16. Catch the details at mbusabercats.com/composite.
