Senior Night Celebrations

WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Claire Hansel and the Sabercats marked senior night in probably the best way possible.

The Sabercats' lone senior logged 35 kills and 27 digs on the night, passing the 1,000-career-digs mark to lift the Sabercats to sweeps of Faith and Oak Hills.

STORY

Faith: The Sabercats had their hands full against the Eagles to open the night. Faith was tied in the first set at 19-19, but the Sabercats' put together a 6-2 run to cap off the match. The set-winner came with a simple tip from Mattie Bumpuswho logged seven kills in the opening match. Claire Hansel led the Sabercats with 16 kills and 16 digs, and the 16-dig performance pushed the senior passed the 1,000 career-digs mark.

After the hard-fought first set, the Sabercats took the match with moderate resistance from their Iowan opponents. Caitrin Kemlo sent nine kills onto the Faith floor, Regina Anderson backed that up with eight, and Emily Johnson logged 33 assists in the match as the Sabercats cruised to a straight-set win.

Oak Hills: After a pre-match ceremony honored the Sabercats only senior, Hansel, the Sabercats cruised to a three-set win over Oak Hills with little resistance from the Wolfpack.

Hansel led from the front, putting down 19 kills and 11 digs to lead the Sabercats to stay perfect on the night, perfect in NCCAA North Region play, and perfect against NCCAA competition for 2020.
