GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Claire Hansel and Alexis Sponable skipped the small talk this season, earning NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week honors at their first opportunity.

Hansel put up 37 kills in just seven sets in a two-win Saturday against Grace Christian, approaching her career-best mark of 26 kills in the second match of the day. The All-American registered 5.29 kills per set and 3.57 digs per set, as she marked a celebratory day with some noteworthy play.

Sponable scored and assisted in the Sabercats' 3-2 win over Faith Baptist Bible College, as the Women's Soccer Team began the season with a key regional win. Sponable's goal put the Sabercats ahead, 2-1, and she assisted the Sabercats' third goal of the day just a few minutes later.

This is Sponable's sixth career weekly award from the NCCAA. Hansel adds her second career NCCAA weekly award, adding it a long list of regional and national accolades.

Both of the seniors are looking to leave their marks in permanent ink in the program record books. Sponable has already registered a program-second-best 48 goals, and Hansel is approaching 1,000 career digs to add to her 1,000 career kills mark.
