Sabercats Conquer Dayspring on the Road

LAKE ZURICH, Ill. --- The Sabercats posted their second win in two games over the Dayspring Bible College Eagles, besting their non-conference foes by a score of 73-56. Micah Shepard led the Sabercats with 26 points and was backed up by 16 from Bryce Cashner, which was a career-best for the Michigan native.

After leading 33-15 going into halftime, the Sabercats closed the game out comfortably despite second-half pressure from the Eagles, who outscored MBU 40-41.

MBU shot 46 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc. The Sabercats also out-rebounded DBC 44-34 on the night.

Clayton Morrison's six-point effort brought him past the 500-career-points mark. Morrison has now registered 503 points in 92 games played.

"We came out ready to play," said assistant coach Joel Borchardt after the game. "We started off very well, and we had our best defensive showing of the year by holding them to 15 points in the first half. Our guys held off Dayspring's run in the second half and were able to close it out. As a coaching staff, we are encouraged to see how the guys are executing what they have been learning in practice, but we are hoping to get even better with some of those things as we approach the tournament."

With the win, the Sabercats are now 6-13 on the year, and will play their next game at home Thursday against the Lakers of Silver Lake College.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m., and you can watch the game live at mbusabercats.com/live or via Facebook Live (/MBUSabercats).
