Student-Athletes Honored in MBU Assembly

WATERTOWN, Wis. --- This morning, the MBU family assembled for the presentation of the Winter and Spring Athletic Awards to join each team as they recounted the season, gave team awards and recognition, and highlighted various regional and national awards garnered by the student-athletes during the basketball, baseball, and softball seasons.

One award - presented by MBU's Director of Athletics Rob Thompson - is the Four Year Award, which is given to those student-athletes who have competed for four seasons in the Blue & Gold. 

Nine student-athletes were recognized as four-year players:

  • Micah Burdett - Baseball
  • Adam Courtney - Baseball
  • Caleb Courtney - Baseball
  • Emilee Hansel - Women's Basketball
  • Clayton Morrison - Men's Basketball
  • Caleb Prigge - Baseball
  • Julie Roer - Women's Basketball
  • Zachary Terpstra - Men's Basketball
  • Jacob Vossen - Baseball

Other awards that were given out by each team were as follows:

Baseball

  • Coach's Award: Caleb Prigge
  • MVP - Offensive: Adam Courtney
  • MVP - Defensive: Micah Burdett
  • MVP: Caleb Courtney
  • Pitching Ace: Clint Matheis

Softball

  • Most Improved Player: Amy Miller
  • Most Valuable Player: Harmony Bailey
  • Coach's Award: Katelyn Hockema, Tina Kolinski

Women's Basketball

  • Most Improved Player: Harmony Bailey
  • MVP: Hanna Glaze
  • Coach's Award: Julie Roer

Men's Basketball

  • Hustle Award: Matt Gill
  • Most Improved Player: Richard Medina
  • MVP - Offensive: Micah Shepard
  • MVP: Clayton Morrison
  • Leadership Award: Zach Terpstra

Thompson remarked, "The level of commitment by our 4-year award recipients is remarkable. The ability to balance their academic endeavor, social interactions, opportunity for ministry involvement, participation in on-campus events and commitment to the team for four years is admirable! 'Hats off' to these young men and women who have demonstrated character and perseverance for MBU Athletics! To the Praise of HIS Glory!"
