WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Thanks to a huge third quarter, the Sabercats bounced back to the win column thanks to a total team effort.
MBU sent four players into double figures in an 11-point win over MSOE - it was the first time in five years that MBU had beaten the Raiders.
- Result: Maranatha 68-57 MSOE
- Venue: MBU Gymnasium
- Location: Watertown, Wis.
- Attendance: 118
- Records: MBU (6-6), MSOE (10-9)
MBU ended the night shooting a team-best 50 percent from the floor, but it took them a while to get going. After scoring just 11 points to MSOE's 12 in the first quarter, it looked like the game was going to be a bona fide defensive battle.
The second quarter yielded a similar scoreline, but both teams were a bit more clinical in their finishing, shooting over 40 percent. Maranatha shared the offensive responsibility throughout the first half, and with a one-point MSOE lead at halftime, the game looked to be heading for a closely contested second half.

But in the third quarter, the plot twisted.
MBU went off on a 27-7 tear throughout the third act, leaving MSOE completely frustrated. Rosa Torres knocked down a couple of threes to contribute seven points while Callie Morrison (8 points) and Jacklyn Simpson (6 points) joined the fun in the third. MBU shot a collective 8-12 from the floor, and with a 19-point lead going into the final quarter, the Raiders were left searching for answers.
To their credit, the Raiders did find 24 points during their search, but it wasn't enough in the end. The Sabercats' third-quarter exhibition proved to be a sticking point for MSOE's plans of coming out on top. By the end of the night, Torres, Simpson, Morrison and Kelsey Johnson all increased their counts to double digits, and the Sabercats had the Raiders well and truly outmatched.
