Doak, Nelson Earn Weekly Awards
WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Jeremiah Doak and Tyler Nelson have been named as student-athletes of the week after their standout performances last week.
Doak, a grad student on the Sabercats' men's cross country team, has been given the weekly award by the National Christian College Athletic Association.
Doak set a personal record of 28:38 in the men's 8K race at the Wisconsin Private College Championships last Saturday. The West Bend, Wisconsin native paced the Sabercats that day with a 25th-place finish in the 74-man field, and the Sabercats finished in 5th place as a team - their best finish in the event to date.
Doak's time for the 8K is the 5th-fastest time in MBU program history, as the second-year runner shattered his previous PR by almost 2 minutes.
The mark of 28:38 is the fastest time for anyone on the men's squad this season.

Nelson earned the award from the Association of Division III Independents for the second time this season.
Nelson continued his impressive goal-scoring year with a hat-trick against NCCAA DI/NAIA opponents Lincoln Christian last week. The 3-goal display was Nelson's first multi-goal game for the Blue and Gold, and the sophomore added an assist in the Sabercats' 5-2 win.
The sophomore capped off the week with a reliable midfield performance in the Sabercats' 1-0 win over NCCAA North Region rivals Emmaus Bible College.
The hat-trick brings Nelson to 7 goals this season, which leads the Sabercats and sits him second in the AD3I. Nelson is currently tied for points on the team (16) with Nathan Akers.
