Shepard Named Pizza Hut Student-Athlete of the Month
WATERTOWN, Wis. -- After leading the Sabercats to their first NCCAA regional title since 2003, Micah Shepard has been named as the Pizza Hut Student-Athlete of the Month.
The senior guard boasted a solid 12.5 points per game for the month of February and capped everything off with an 18-point-per-game performance at the NCCAA North Region Tournament, hosted by Faith Baptist Bible College, Feb. 22-24.
In the regional semifinal game against the #3-seeded Emmaus Bible College Eagles, Shepard put up 27 points to lead MBU to a 100-60 win. Shepard followed that performance with 10 points in the Regional Championship against Oak Hills, where the Sabercats won by a score of 85-57.
That entire weekend, the Sabercats never trailed, thanks to performances like Shepard's.
Behind the senior's strong showings, the team put up a 6-3 record for the month, including a 5-0 showing in NCCAA play. Shepard also recorded his first double-double of the season with a 10-point, 12-rebound showing against Moody Bible on Feb. 10.
To cap everything off, Shepard was voted as the NCCAA North Region MVP by the region's selection committee.
