Raiders Overpower Sabercats in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE - The Sabercats continued their demanding mid-season schedule against the Raiders of MSOE on Tuesday night, falling 0-7 after the 90 minutes had expired near Lake Michigan. The loss was the seventh consecutive defeat for the Sabercats, who will look to their next game to break the trend of losses against strong NCAA opposition.

The Basics

  • Result: Sabercats 0-7 Raiders
  • Venue: Viets Field
  • Attendance: 120
  • Sabercats: now 2-13, Raiders: now 9-6

How it Happened

  • 1st Half
    • MSOE's Braden Andryk proved to be a difference-maker by tallying a hat-trick and two assists on the night. Andryk set up the first goal in the 15th minute and would add his first goal just two minutes later when the Sabercats gave the ball away off a goal kick. Andryk would go on to add his second in the 31st minute.
  • 2nd Half
    • A Sabercat giveaway in the first few seconds led directly to the fourth Raider goal of the night, as it took Andryk just 15 seconds to complete his hat-trick in the second half. After the Raiders added two more goals in quick succession, their final goal of the night came in the 74th minute, when MSOE's Nathan Weiss climbed higher than anybody and headed a cross into the Sabercats' net.
    • Caleb Walters came closest for the Sabercats when he tested the keeper from 30 yards. Walters was denied the top-left corner by the outstretched arm of MSOE's Patrick Grund.

From Coach Pill

"We give a lot of credit to MSOE, as they showed their tactics and athleticism to be superior to ours. I thought we lacked sharpness, and we showed that in our poor possession and lack of combativeness. Our guys will continue to grow from these experiences, though, and we look forward to hosting Faith on Saturday for our Parents' Day."

Up Next
