WATERTOWN, Wis. - The Sabercats continued their winning ways in their third home match this season, as they swept the Inferno of Alverno College in straight sets. Madeline Thompson spearheaded the Sabercats' attack by chalking up 10 kills on the night as MBU remained perfect at home and increased their winning streak to eight matches.

  • The first match saw a trade-off in the early goings, then the Sabercats strung together a 9-0 run. The Sabercats' pressure paid off, as they forced the Inferno to misfire at the net. Alison Renz notched three kills in the first set while Alexis Johnson and Kelsey Johnson pitched in a pair of kills apiece to help the Sabercats cruise to the opening-set win (1-0)
• MBU 25-21 AC
  • Set number two was the tightest, as the Sabercats were sluggish in the middle of the set after storming out to the lead early on. Things seemed to be falling in favor of Alverno when they held a 20-17 lead along with the set's momentum, but emphatic late kills from Madeline Thompson snuffed the Inferno's rally. A final opposite-court kill from the Ankeny native ended the second set on a high note for the Sabercats (2-0)
• MBU 25-16 AC
  • Early on, it was an even exchange in the final set, as the two sides tussled to an 8-8 tie. However, more untimely errors from the Inferno swayed the otherwise neutral momentum, and the Sabercats found themselves positioned nicely on a 16-10 lead. Alexis Johnson, Renz, and Thompson kept Alverno guessing at the net to help the Sabercats close out another convincing straight-set win on their home floor (3-0)
