Sabercats Sweep Rockford to Conclude Away Matches

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Sabercats conclude their regular-season road schedule with a 6-2 record by picking up a decisive straight-set win over the Regents of Rockford University. The win was the 11th win in three sets for the Sabercats this season.

  • MBU 25-15 RU
    • The Sabercats seemed to start the game already in a good rhythm, as they would not relinquish their early lead. With a varied attack, the Sabercats kept the Regents on their heels to cruise to the 10-point set win. During the first set, Julia Gunst (24 assists on the night) tallied her 1,500th career assist to move to fifth place in MBU Volleyball history for the assist category (1-0)
  • MBU 25-14 RU
    • The story of the match remained unchanged in the second set, as the Sabercats kept up their precise play at the net - boasting just nine errors all night at the net. Alison Renz (who recorded 16 kills and 6 blocks on the night) teamed up with Madeline Thompson (8 kills) and Alexis Johnson (6 kills) to keep the Regents guessing and take the second set (2-0) 
  • MBU 25-4 RU
    • In the last set, the Sabercats were unstoppable on offense and dialed in on defense to cruise to a fast win. Katie Bender's 15 digs on the night led the Sabercats' defense to the fewest points that they have conceded during the month of October, as they held Rockford to a total of 33 on the night (3-0)
