STORY

It may have been a cold fall day outside the MBU gym, but it took the Sabercats no time at all to heat up. A Karley Johnson ace capped off an 11-1 run in the first set, throwing the Sabercats out to a 13-5 lead to give them firm control of the match. From there, Maranatha's offense gave them the path of least resistance to the end of the set, as they posted five late kills to win the first frame 25-16.

The first set seemed to knock any life out of the Eagles, as Maranatha limited Emmaus to just 24 points over the final two sets combined to take home an easy win. The Sabercats' best offensive display was a 16-kill, .367-attack-percentage performance in the second set, and Gabrielle Carpenter set up a big block in the final frame, stuffing Emmaus three different times with help from Karley Johnson and Mattie Bumpus

Claire Hansel energized the offense with 10 kills on the night, Allyson Brimer posted six kills off just eight attempts, and Karley and Kelsey Johnson dished out 19 and 13 assists, respectively. Jessica Ureke (9 digs) and McKenzie Janke (8 digs) did their usual defensive duty, keeping the Eagles in check in the hour-long match.

The easy win marked a stress-free Parents' Day even at MBU, as the Sabercats conclude a 2-0 week with another straight-set win.
