GREENVILLE, S.C. -- For the second time this year, Kelsey Johnson has earned the honor of NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week.

The senior from Daggett, Michigan concluded her home games at Maranatha in the most glamorous way possible, racking up 22 kills in just two straight-set wins last weekend as the Sabercats swept through the NCCAA DII North Region Tournament.

Even in a three-set match, Johnson was just one kill shy of her career-high mark of 16 kills, as she was red-hot against Moody Bible Institute in the NCCAA Regional Semifinal. The next day, Johnson helped secure the regional title in a sweep of Providence University College, picking up seven kills, 17 assists, and six digs as the Sabercats conquered the Pilots.

This was the Sabercats' sixth consecutive regional title and it will be their 10th straight trip to the NCCAA National Tournament. And when everything was on the line, Johnson was a force to be reckoned with.

Johnson and the Sabercats will await their seeding for the NCCAA DII National Tournament. Based on their current power rating, the Sabercats expect to be the #2 seed, but the official seedings will be announced Saturday night.
