GREENVILLE, S.C. -- After leading the Sabercats to their fourth consecutive regional championship, Regina DeLozier has been named as the NCCAA DII National Coach of the Year.

The honor, which is voted on by members of the NCCAA selection committee, is given to the coach that demonstrates coaching aptitude, Christian character, leadership, and a contribution to the NCCAA. DeLozier fits the bill in every category.

Not only has DeLozier led the Sabercats to four consecutive regional titles, but she has also won back-to-back NCCAA DII national titles with the Sabercats over the last two years. Over that stretch, the Sabercats have won 33 NCCAA DII matches while losing just 1.

Success on the court is just one thing that DeLozier is known for. Her profound impact on her players is another.

"Coach does so much and handles it all with excellence," says Katie Bender, a senior captain and the recipient of the 2017 Women's Volleyball GP4L Character Award. "She also really knows how to motivate us and get us to play our best. She not only cares about us as volleyball players, but she cares about us as individuals.

"She encouraged Lexi [Bueltel] and I, as captains, to be learning about the girls and making sure they're all doing well. So not only does she care about us, but she wants to instill that care in us captains."

The NCCAA honor marks the third Coach of the Year award for DeLozier this season. She was named as the NCCAA North Region Coach of the Year earlier this month before earning AD3I All-Independent Coach of the Year honors earlier this week.

DeLozier also serves as the North Region Chair for DII Women's Volleyball.

DeLozier and the Sabercats celebrate multiple NCCAA awards tonight, but will quickly turn their attention to the court tomorrow as they begin their campaign for a third consecutive national title.
