Women's Volleyball Garners Top 10 Status Through September

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Despite a challenging schedule, the back-to-back NCCAA DII National Champs are holding their usual high standard this year.

For the third consecutive week, the Sabercats Women's Volleyball Team has been ranked fifth or better in the Top 10 NCCAA DII rankings, which are developed by the NCCAA National Sport Chair and Regional Sport Chairs. The National Sport Chair compiles the national ranking based on points from each team’s ranking on the Regional Sport Chairs’ national ballots.

The Sabercats - currently at fourth place behind Toccoa Falls, Randall, and Kentucky Christian - have shown promise this month, as the team has posted a 10-6 record against some challenging opponents.

So far this season, the Sabercats are 3-1 against NCCAA DII competition, and they hold a 3-2 record in overall NCCAA play. Coming into this year, the Sabercats have dominated the NCCAA scheme, as they have lost just 1 NCCAA DII match since November of 2014 - a streak that spans 31 matches.

Seniors Alexis Bueltel and Madeline Suderman have led the Sabercats' attack this year with 153 and 109 kills, respectively, while Bender (320 digs) and Kelsey Johnson (137 digs) have been the trendsetters for a scrappy defense.

The Sabercats have a lighter schedule this week, as they will play just 3 matches on the weekend. You can find the details for every contest at mbusabercats.com/composite.
