Bailey Tabbed with NCCAA Weekly Award

GREENVILLE, S.C. --- The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) has announced that Harmony Bailey (Rudyard, Mich.) has been named as the NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week (Fielder) for the week of April 10.

This honor is the first of the season for the 2017 Sabercats, who improved to 6-12 on the season (which includes a 6-2 NCCAA record) last week with four consecutive wins at home against North Central (Minn.) on Parents' Day Weekend. MBU recorded wins of 10-2, 7-3, 11-3, and 13-5 in the two-day stretch.

Bailey was the undisputed impact player for the Sabercats, as the rookie showed her versatility by batting 9-15 while pitching two complete games. At the plate, Bailey recorded her first career home run when she followed fellow Yooper Hannah May's home run; and then threw in eight runs scored, five runs batted in, and a triple in the four-game series.

In the circle, Bailey struck out 17 batters in her two-start weekend and registered her first career wins in the Blue & Gold.

Already this week, Bailey has followed up her noteworthy performances with a 2-4 showing at the plate in game two against the Blackburn Beavers yesterday, and one of those hits cleared the fence for her second career home run.

Bailey and the Sabercats are slated for 11 games this week, and they return to action tonight in Illinois against the Rockford University Regents at 6:00 p.m.
