Renz Garners AD3I Player of the Month Status

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Senior middle blocker Alison Renz has been named Student-Athlete of the Month for September, as was announced today by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I). This marks the second year running that Renz has received the honor, as the Lake Mills native received the September accolade during the 2015 season.

Renz led the Sabercats to an 11-4 record for the month of September, and recorded a monthly total of 241 kills, 149 digs, 74 blocks and 27 aces. Renz was named the Faith Spikefest Tournament MVP during the first week of the month, and had a superlative performance against MSOE on September 17th when she registered 22 kills and 9 blocks.

The two-time NCCAA All-American currently leads the AD3I in eight categories including total blocks, points, kills per set, and hitting percentage, and is ranked in the top five nationally for the NCAA DIII in blocks per set and points per set.

The senior reached the 1,000 kills mark earlier this season, and has amassed 1,163 career kills in total (6th all-time) and 357 career blocks (3rd all-time).

Renz and the Sabercats will return to action this Saturday to face North Central (Ill.) and Aurora in the Aurora Triangular.
