Risma Named NCCAA DII Women's Soccer Game Plan 4 LIFE Award Recipient
Greenville, S.C. (Courtesy of the NCCAA) --- The NCCAA is pleased to announce Audrey Risma of Maranatha Baptist University (MBU) as the 2016 GP4L Award Recipient for DII Women’s Soccer.
In leading Maranatha Baptist University to a record of 6-7-1, Audrey Risma has been a key part of keeping the Sabercats in the top four of the NCCAA Division II Women’s Soccer poll. The senior midfielder from Fort Collins, Colorado, currently has 6 goals and 5 assists for a total of 17 points this season. Her leadership, both on and off the field, has been critical to leading her team to the NCCAA National Championship event each of her 4 years. As an example of her pursuit of excellence, she leads optional fitness workouts and arrives early and stays late to develop her technical skills daily.
A three-time NCCAA All-Region selection and Midwest Region Player of the Year in 2014 and 2015, Audrey was recognized as an NCCAA All-American in 2014 and 2015. She was a unanimous choice for NSCAA/NCCAA Player of the Year in 2015 while leading the Sabercats to a second place finish in the NCCAA Championship.
Committed to her academic pursuit, her 3.25 GPA recognizes her excellence in the classroom as an Applied Science major. She is also a fixture on the Dean’s List each semester.
As impressive as her athletic and academic abilities are, it is her Christian leadership and service that top the list of reasons why Audrey was chosen for this award. Seeking to be an authentic and relevant servant of Christ, she serves as a Resident Assistant this year and served as a counselor at The Wilds Camp in the summer of 2016. She has also served as a Sunday School teacher at her home church and daily attempts to point others to Christ by her example and testimony.
Her coach, David Anderson, summed up his sentiments by adding, “I see Audrey walking with God and pursuing excellence in every facet of her life. I would be thrilled if my daughter could grow up to be like Audrey Risma.”
