#5 Sabercats Blank Pilots in NCCAA Match

WATERTOWN, Wis. - In sloppy conditions, the Sabercats' game was tidy, as they scored on two occasions to take home a crucial 2-0 NCCAA regional win over the Pilots of Providence University College. In her final game on the MBU field, senior Audrey Risma scored and assisted the only goals to lead the Sabercats to their third NCCAA win of the season.

The Basics

  • Result: Sabercats 2-0 Pilots
  • Venue: Maranatha Baptist University
  • Attendance: 84
  • Sabercats: now 4-7-1

How it Happened

  • 27' - After Bethany Wright drew a foul in the penalty area, Audrey Risma stepped up and calmly buried the ensuing penalty kick to give the Sabercats the 1-0 lead (1-0)
  • 56' - Risma would then return the favor in the early stages of the second half by sending Wright in on goal with a perfectly-weighted pass. Wright's touch took her inside of the Pilot penalty area, and she was able to beat the keeper to give the Sabercats an insurance goal (2-0)
  • Hannah Anderson faced 10 shots on the day and made two saves to preserve her second shutout of the season.
  • The Sabercats now hold a 3-0 NCCAA record for the 2016 season, and have yet to concede a goal in regional play.

From Coach Anderson

"I'm proud of the way we started again today. We imposed our will on the game from the first whistle and earned another result, so hats off to our girls. As I told the players after the game, it may not have been pretty, but we were dangerous all afternoon. It is nice to have completed our regional regular season matchups. Now we see what we are up against in our region; so we will look to focus our training as we prepare for tournament play."
