
Bumpus Repeats as National Player of the Year

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The National Christian College Athletic Association has released the 2022 awards for Division II Women's Volleyball, and Mattie Bumpus has been named as the National MVP for the second straight year.
Bumpus becomes the third member of the Maranatha Women's Volleyball program to earn the honor twice, and the second one to earn the honor in consecutive years. The graduate was named as the North Region Player of the Year earlier this month and joins this prestigious list of National MVP winners from Maranatha:

Bumpus has amassed a career-high 335 kills and 99 blocks this season. Bumpus is tied for 1st in the entire NCCAA DII in total blocks and is second in blocks per set with 0.98. Bumpus was named as the national student-athlete of the week in October and led the Sabercats to a 14-match winning streak, which was the program's longest since 2014.
Bumpus and the Sabercats prepare for pool play at the NCCAA DII National Tournament tomorrow, beginning at 9:30 AM Eastern with a clash against #5 Toccoa Falls College.
