Sabercats Roll for First Win of the Season

ANKENY, Iowa --- After the promising showing against the Lawrence University Vikings to open the season, the Sabercats got the result they were looking for when they traveled to Ankeny, Iowa and Faith Baptist Bible College as they pulled out a 53-26 victory in an NCCAA North Region matchup. Hanna Glaze recorded 16 points on the day to lead the Sabercats.

How it Happened

  • 1st Quarter
    • The Sabercats started well, as they limited their turnovers and outscored the Eagles 22-6 in the opening quarter.
    • Hannah May led the Sabercats wil five points, and was backed up by four points from both Hanna Glaze and Harmony Bailey.
    • The Sabercats were sharp in the first quarter, as they shot nearly 50 percent from the field. (22-6)
  • 2nd Quarter
    • The Eagles settled into their game in the second quarter, as they outscored the Sabercats by five points, but the opening period from the Sabercats proved all but irreversable. 
    • The Sabercats struggled with their shooting in the second quarter, as the team went a combined 3-21 from the field.
    • At the end of the first half, the Sabercats still held an 11-point lead. (32-21)
  • 3rd Quarter
    • The Sabercats were tidy with their possession in the third quarter as they suffered only two turnovers, but the shooting game still struggled, as the Sabercats went just 5-21 from the field. 
    • Hanna Glaze recorded half of her points in the third act, as the Twin Falls native knocked down eight points in the 10-minute span.
    • The Sabercats' defense was tight, as they limited the hosts to just two points in the third quarter alone. (45-23)
  • 4th Quarter
    • The final quarter was a defensive battle, as the Sabercats closed out their win while neither team broke double-digit points. 
    • May was active around the rim to pick up eight rebounds on the game to lead the Sabercats. May also recorded eight points on the game.
    • Kaitlyn Rygh (seven points), Emilee Hansel (six points), and Amanda Rodriguez (six points) finished their offensive contributions in the fourth quarter in a well-balanced offensive effort.
