Glaze's Career Night Lifts Sabercats Over Scarlet Hawks

WATERTOWN, Wis. --- In an all-AD3I clash, the Sabercats topped the Scarlet Hawks from Illinois Tech. by a score of 59-40. Hanna Glaze registered a career-high 27 points in the contest while Alexis Johnson posted her third double-double of the season.

With the win, the Sabercats improve to 8-8 on the season and are now 3-1 on their home floor.

The Scarlet Hawks came out shooting and held the lead through the first quarter. The Sabercats had to wait until the final minute of play to tie the game at 13, but the Scarlet Hawks answered with two shots from the line to end the quarter.

The Sabercats punished some Scarlet Hawk turnovers and pulled ahead with an inexorable 20-0 run in the second quarter. Maisy Alldredge and Hanna Glaze cashed in from beyond the arc to push the momentum full swing in favor of the Sabercats, who led by 14 going into the break. (33-19)

All told, the Sabercats made good use of the mishandlings from the Scarlet Hawks, as MBU scored 33 points off turnovers on the night.

A three from Glaze was all that the Sabercats had to offer in the opening five minutes of the second half, but the Scarlet Hawks answered with just eight points during that stretch. Towards the end of the third quarter, Alexis Johnson helped get the Sabercats' offense going again with a couple of jumpers.

At the buzzer to end the third quarter, Glaze grabbed a rebound and converted a layup to reach the career-high mark of 20 points since she became a Sabercat at the start of last season.

The final quarter saw the Sabercats seal a comfortable win. Alexis Johnson and Glaze were the only scoring contributors, as they posted eight and seven points respectively in the final act.

Meanwhile, the Sabercats defense held IIT to 40 points and forced 31 turnovers on the night.

This was the third meeting between the two teams, and the Sabercats now hold a 3-0 advantage in the series.

The Sabercats return to action Thursday against the Trojans of Trinity International University (NCCAA DI, NAIA). You can follow the game via live stats and video (click here) courtesy of TIU Athletics.
