Sabercats Top Pilots for Third Win in the North Region

WATERTOWN, Wis. --- In the first ever meeting between the two teams in women's basketball, the Sabercats cruised out to an early lead over the Providence University College Pilots and never looked back, winning by a score of 77-34.

MBU was firing on all cylinders to begin the game, as they set out on a fast track for triple digits with a 30-point first quarter. The Sabercats' defense stayed tight and hard-working in the second quarter, as they held the pilots to single-digit points for the period - a trend that would continue until the end of the game.

Harmony Bailey logged a season-best 11 points in the first half alone, as the rookie knocked down all three of her shots from behind the line. Bailey was just one of eight players to log points for MBU, as four bench players combined for 28 of the 51 Sabercat points.

Other contributors from off the pine were Maisy Alldredge (eight points), (Hannah May five points) Julier Roer (four points), and Alyssa Wright (four points, eight rebounds). Hanna Glaze led the starters with eight points in the first half.

The Sabercats would ride the momentum of 50 percent shooting to ultimately take a 51-18 lead entering the break.

The second half was simply more of the same, as the Sabercats extended their lead to a game-high 46 points early on in the fourth quarter. All the while, the Sabercats limited the Pilots to less than 10 points in both of the closing two quarters to conclude a well-balanced team win. The Sabercats showed their depth by notching 42 bench points, finishing with 77 total points on the night - their second-highest this season.

With the win, the Sabercats improve to 9-9 while the Pilots fall to 6-14 with the loss.

The Sabercats have now surpassed the 1,000 points mark for the season, moving to 1,018 poins on the year.

This was the first game in a seven-game home stand. The Sabercats' next test is Tuesday against the Red Hawks of Indiana-Northwest. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at MBU.
