GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Jeremy Fopma cruised to a 5th-place finish at the Wisconsin Private College Championships last weekend, and the National Christian College Athletic Association has named the junior speedster as the NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week for Division II Men's Cross Country.
Fopma, a junior out of Marion, Iowa, earned an All-Wisconsin 1st-Team honor after finishing 5th at the state championships last weekend in Appleton, Wisconsin. Fopma set the tone for his team, who finished 8th at the event, and it was his fastest time in the 2021 season with a 25:52 8K - good enough for a 5:03/mile pace.
"Flying Fopma" was just 32 seconds off of the winner at the meet, and the junior Iowan will be looking to wrap up his third consecutive win at this year's NCCAA DII National Championships in November.
But first, Fopma turns his attention to this weekend's inaugural NCCAA North Region Championships hosted by Faith Baptist Bible College. Find details for the meet at mbusabercats.com/schedule.
