Women's Soccer Seeded #2 for Regionals

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Sabercats' National Title defense starts at next weekend's 2021 NCCAA North Region Tournament, where they have earned the #2 seed and will face off against the #3-seeded North Central University Rams in the Regional Semifinal at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 5.
The winner will advance to play #1-seeded Faith to the North Region Championship at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, with the North Region Championship, bragging rights, and a ticket to the NCCAA National Tournament on the line.
The North Region Championship takes place at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex in Des Moines, Iowa. The 2021 NCCAA DII National Tournament will be held November 18-20 at Austin-Tindall Regional Park in Kissimmee, Florida.

FORMAT
The format is a three-team single-elimination with seedings based on the NCCAA Power Rating System. In other words, it will be the classic semifinal-final format common to most soccer tournaments.
PARTICIPANTS
Below is a brief overview of the four-team field. Notably, NCCAA-third-ranked Providence University College is not competing at this year's tournament. Providence holds a 7-7-1 record and sits atop of the NCCAA DII power ratings:

No. 5 Faith
Faith comes in as the only ranked team to compete in the North Region Championships. Faith's only wins this season have come over Maranatha (1-0 in September) and 4-0 over Lincoln Christian University.
Faith is currently ranked fifth in the NCCAA DII Top 5 Rankings.
Maranatha
The Sabercats hold the NCCAA DII National Title, but this year has been a rebuilding year for a relatively inexperienced program. The Sabercats tied Faith yesterday to share some pre-tournament bragging rights, but that game had no bearing on the seedings for the regional tournament.
Maranatha's wins have come against Mount Mary (5-0, 2-0) and Lincoln Christian (1-0) this season.
North Central (Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, NCAA DIII)
North Central's lone wins on the year have come against NCAA DIII opponents Buena Vista (Iowa) and Crown, and the Rams' schedule has consisted entirely of NCAA DIII and NAIA schools in the 2021 season.
The Rams return to the North Region for the first time since 2016.
