GREENVILLE, S.C. (Courtesy of the NCCAA) -- The National Christian College Athletic Association is pleased to announce Hannah Evans of Maranatha Baptist University (MBU) as the 2021 Joe and Q Harding Award Recipient for Division II Women’s Soccer.

Evans, a senior midfielder, is truly a story of how God’s grace can sustain. She has experienced countless obstacles but has never ceased to endure. Evans has persevered through numerous injuries without stopping her rehab efforts. Her consistent performance on the field creates a strong foundation for her team. In 2020, she earned NCCAA All-Tournament honors and played a vital position in winning the 2020 National Championship. Scholastically, the nursing major holds a 3.57 GPA and was presented with NCCAA Scholar-Athlete, Dean’s List and President’s List, and Maranatha Institutional Scholar-Athlete awards.

Teammates look to Evans as a connection between the players and the coaching staff. She shares tactical and technical know-how with anyone who wants to learn. Her positive approach and patience make her a standout leader, evidenced by her being selected as a team captain.

Aside from excelling in soccer, Evans is a willing servant. She is involved in seemingly every area of her giftedness. She serves tirelessly in her local church through music and children’s ministries. She serves at Maranatha in multiple ministry outreaches, including Spanish ministries, medical missions’ trips and conferences, and various music and traveling groups. She is also the Vice President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Head Men’s Soccer Coach Jeff Pill adamantly praises her diligence, “She sacrifices energy and time to maintain both (athletics and academics) at a superior standard of excellence.” Coach Pill acknowledges, “Hannah’s stabilizing presence and consistent positivity earn her the respect of players and coaches alike.”

This is just the second time in program history that a Maranatha Women's Soccer member has earned this award. Audrey (Risma) Knoedler earned the same honor during the 2016-17 season.
