Callie Cleans Up
WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Callie Morrison was the driving force behind the Sabercats' success in February, and the Maranatha Athletic Department has named her the Pizza Ranch Student-Athlete of the Month - an in-house award in conjunction with Watertown's Pizza Ranch location.
Morrison averaged 18.5 points and 8.7 rebounds to lift the Sabercats to a 4-2 record and their third consecutive NCCAA North Region Championship. The junior peaked with a 24-point performance against Lincoln Christian on the 9th, passing 1,000 career points in the process.
To wrap up the month, she then encored with consecutive double-doubles at regionals to capture the title.
Morrison earned NCCAA North Region 1st-Team honors for the third time in her career after earning two NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week awards. For good measure, she averaged 4.7 assists and 2.8 steals while shooting 34 percent for the month.
Morrison and the Sabercats are seeded #5 for NCCAA Nationals, which begins Thursday in Joplin, Missouri.
