GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The National Christian College Athletic Association has announced that Alexis Sponable has earned the highest honor from Division II: the National Player of the Year.

This is the first Player of the Year honor for Sponable, who earned NCCAA Regional Player of the Year status for the second time in her career earlier this season. With the National Player of the Year honor comes a subsequent NCCAA 1st-Team All-American selection - Sponable's third All-American listing in her four-year career.

This marks just the second time in the 22-year history of the program that a Maranatha student-athlete has earned the NCCAA DII's highest honor Sponable joins Audrey (Risma) Knoedler as the only two to get the award.

Sponable finishes her career with a program-best 60 goals and 130 points, netting nine career hat-tricks and 15 game-winning goals in her four-year career.
