FORMAT

The format guarantees that all three teams play two games each, eliminating the traditional semifinal/final (or single-elimination) format and seeding process. Teams are awarded three points for a win and one point for a tie. In the event of a tie in total points at the end of the tournament, the following will be used as tie-breakers, in this order:

  1. Head-to-head result between the tied teams
  2. Tournament goal difference
  3. Tournament goals against
  4. Tournament goals scored
  5. Tournament shutouts
  6. Power Rating

PARTICIPANTS

Here's a brief overview of the three-team field:

Team Location                    Record   '19 Finish

Faith Ankeny, Iowa 1-6-1 Semifinal
Moody Chicago, Ill. N/A Runner-Up

Maranatha has the advantage of a day off between their two games, as they held a superior series record against Faith during the regular season. The Sabercats have been denied two likely wins in the last two games, tying Great Lakes and Faith in double overtime. With one regular-season game left on the schedule, the Sabercats will look to get the two wins they are looking for and make the return trip to Florida.

Faith's lone win in the 2020 season came to the tune of 5-0 over Barclay College (NCCAA DII Southwest) on Senior Day, October 3. The Eagles hold a 1-4-1 record against NCCAA opponents this season.

Moody enters the tournament despite not participating during the regular season in 2020. Restricted in part by local/institutional ordinances up to this point, the Archers will look to make the most of their opportunity and make their first trip to Nationals since 2015.
