AVCA All-Americans
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- As an extension of their NCCAA All-American selection announced last week, Mattie Bumpus, Claire Hansel, Emily Johnson, and Caitrin Kemlo have all been named as NCCAA DII All-American selections by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Bumpus, Hansel, and Johnson were named to the 1st Team while Kemlo earned 2nd-Team honors. Hansel picks up her third career NCCAA DII/AVCA selection and is eligible for the NCCAA/AVCA National Player of the Year Award, which will be announced in December.
The AVCA recognizes student-athletes from the NCAA (all divisions), the NAIA, the NCCAA, and the USCAA, giving student-athletes a double honor to celebrate as they wrap up their seasons. This was the first time that Maranatha has landed four student-athletes on the NCCAA All-America selections. Those four and the rest of the Sabercats finished the year with a 19-5 record and a national semifinal finish.
