Groundwork: Laid
WATERTOWN, Wis. -- After working tirelessly to get the Maranatha Men's Volleyball Program off the ground, head coach Torey Rosen has stepped down from the role of head coach.
Rosen's replacement is still to be determined.
"We are saddened that Torey is leaving Maranatha, but we are excited for her and [her husband] Ethan as they begin a new chapter in their lives," said MBU Athletic Director, Rob Thompson. "Torey's the most awarded player in Maranatha Volleyball history, and she's made significant contributions to the program as a player and assistant coach. But her leadership in launching the men’s volleyball program will be felt for years to come. We want to thank Torey for her faithful service to MBU and our student-athletes and wish her and Ethan God’s speed as they prepare for the birth of their first child and the new adventures of owning a company."
Rosen coached the team through their first two seasons as a varsity program and has made the decision to step down primarily due to family commitments. As could be expected, it wasn't an easy call for Rosen.
"I've greatly enjoyed the challenge of starting an NCAA program and wish I could see the process through longer than the two years," Rosen said. "The dedication and vision of each team member over the past five years has been inspiring, and I hope their efforts are carried on by the teams that follow them.
"The next step of growth is gaining players with experience, and we've been in contact with several recruits who can be impact players. I'm excited to see the program progress."
Rosen steps down at the conclusion of the program's second season on the varsity level, which followed three seasons of club-level competition.
