Record-Setting Fall

Record-Setting Fall

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- The Association of Division III Independents has released the 2018 Fall All-Independent Teams, and 21 Maranatha student-athletes have been named as the best in the AD3I by member schools.

Of the 21, 18 were given 1st-Team honors (pictured above) - this mark is the highest one for Maranatha since joining the AD3I for the 2013-14 season.

Individual Honors

To give All-Independent honors, AD3I member schools vote on the best student-athletes in the division, and in addition to the 21 selected, four have been given special recognition by the AD3I.

McKenzie Janke - Junior - Indianapolis - filled the big shoes of "Maranatha Libero" by earning the AD3I Libero of the Year honor. Janke led the Association in digs (694) and digs per set (5.18). This is the second consecutive season in which MBU has earned the Libero of the Year award.

Kelsey Johnson - Junior - Daggett, Michigan - earned the Association's highest honor, taking home the Player of the Year accolade. Johnson was a powerhouse in the Blue and Gold this season, leading the AD3I in assists (657) while ranking second in kills (329) and third in digs (441). This marks the fourth time that MBU has taken home this award for Women's Volleyball.

Andrew Taylor - Graduate Student - Chesapeake, Virginia - marked his final year in style, as he was named Goalkeeper of the Year. This award is the first time an MBU student-athlete has received the award. Taylor led the AD3I in save percentage (.762) and total saves (109).

Hannah Wells - Senior - Danville, Illinois - played her first year between the sticks for MBU and was named the Goalkeeper of the Year as well. Wells led the AD3I in save percentage (.803) while recording 102 saves. Like Taylor's award for the Men's Program, this was the first time an MBU student-athlete has earned the Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Year award.
