Monthly Honors for Hansel

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Claire Hansel was a force to be reckoned with in the month of October, and she has been named as the Student-Athlete of the Month by the Association of Division III Independents.

During the month, Hansel was named as the Student-Athlete of the Week in consecutive weeks by the AD3I, and the sophomore was powerful at the net and on defense. Hansel showed her versatility by recording 3.81 kills per set and 3.19 digs per set on the month, passing the career-500 mark in both those categories.

The Watertown native recorded five double-doubles on the month, and she currently leads the Association in kills and kills per set. Hansel led the Sabercats to a 6-3 month before they swept the NCCAA North Region Tournament without dropping a set.

Hansel and the Sabercats now look to the NCCAA DII National Tournament, where they will look to hoist their fourth consecutive national title.
