Honors for Hernandez

WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Alison Hernandez has a triple-honor coming her way, as the senior was named as the student-athlete of the week by the National Christian College Athletic Association and the Association of Division III Independents.

On an institutional level, Hernandez passed 50 career points last weekend and is now 11th in that category in Maranatha Women's Soccer program history.

Hernandez led Maranatha to two consecutive shutout wins last week, as the Sabercats topped Rockford, 3-0, before breezing past Mount Mary to the tune of 6-0.

The senior midfielder posted two goals and two assists on the week, as she set up Angel Steuerwald for the third goal at Rockford before scoring a brace and adding one assist against MMU.

Hernandez sits at 51 career points and will look to climb in that category by the end of her fourth year in the Blue and Gold. Her next chance will come this afternoon, as the Sabercats host Lincoln Christian University at 3:30 p.m.
