Men's Soccer Releases 2018 Schedule

WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Hosting regionals and returning a solid group of players brings promise for the season ahead for Maranatha Men's Soccer.

Looking Back

Last season, the team lost to Providence University College by one goal in the NCCAA North Region Championship. Providence went on to a top-four finish at NCCAA Nationals, where they lost by one goal to eventual champions, Pensacola Christian. For Maranatha, it was the third time since 2010 that they had qualified for the NCCAA regional championship. Maranatha finished the year with a 9-10 record.

Looking Ahead

The 2018 schedule holds the following highlights:

  • NCCAA North Region Tournament - Nov. 1-3 at MBU
  • Four regular-season games against North Region opponents
  • Five home games in September; one home game in October
  • Eight consecutive NCAA DIII games in September
  • A home game vs Moody Bible - Sep. 29
  • Parents' Day Weekend - Oct. 20 vs Lincoln Christian

New Faces

The Sabercats will face two opponents for the first time and one opponent for the second time in program history:

Greenville University (SLIAC) - AWAY - Sep. 1

The Sabercats will go on the road to begin their 2018 campaign, facing Lincoln Christian on Friday, Aug. 31, and Greenville on Saturday, Sep. 1. The Sabercats tangled with the Panthers for the first time back in 2015, when Greenville took home a scrappy 3-0 win over MBU.

Webster University (SLIAC) - HOME - Sep. 22

The "Gorlocks" of Webster University in St. Louis are coming off of a 12-4-4 season and a heartbreaking loss in the SLIAC tournament, where they fell to Principia College in penalty kicks. The Gorlocks' only other NCCAA DII opponent this season will be the defending national champions, Pensacola Christian.

Silver Lake College (Unaffiliated) - AWAY - Oct. 18

Silver Lake finished the 2017 season with an 8-3-2 record (includes exhibitions), which included a 3-1 win over Moody Bible Institute.
