Hansel, Johnson Named All-Americans

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The National Christian College Athletic Association has announced the NCCAA All-America teams, and Claire Hansel and Kelsey Johnson have been named to the first team.

This is the first team that these two student-athletes have been named as the best student-athletes in the country, and their statistics have made them clear-cut candidates.

Hansel was named to the NCCAA North Region 1st Team and has amassed 346 kills on the season so far - a mark that leads the Sabercats and lands her just outside of the NCCAA top 10. Hansel posted a career-high 23 kills against Judson on October 20 and has posted double-digit kills in 18 matches this year. The sophomore has proven her worth on offense and defense, logging 343 digs to match her 346 kills.

Johnson made a run at an NCAA DIII statistical champion title, as she posted nine triple-doubles this season to be in the mix for the NCAA statistical award. Johnson has been an all-around asset to this Sabercats' team, as she has totaled 278 kills, 563 assists, and 357 digs coming into the national tournament. The junior out of Daggett, Michigan has passed the 500 kills and the 1,000 career assists marks this season, and she is approaching the 1,000 career digs mark.

Hansel and Johnson add to a tradition of excellence for the program, as the Maranatha Volleyball Team has had 14 1st Team All-Americans since 2010.
