Johnson Lands Second AD3I Honor of the Season

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Kelsey Johnson was her usual self last week, and the Association of Division III Independents awarded her accordingly.

The junior led Maranatha to a 3-1 showing, which included straight-set wins over Rockford, Finlandia, and Northland, and a narrow loss to MSOE in five sets. Johnson racked up 40 kills, 69 assists, 41 digs, and three blocks on the week, and landed a career-high 15 kills in the MSOE match.

Johnson notched a triple-double against MSOE (15 kills, 22 assists, 21 digs), and now has five triple-doubles on the season, which is good enough to be tied for second place in NCAA DIII.

In the AD3I statistical rankings, Johnson is third in kills (171) and second in hitting percentage (.222).

The Sabercats will return to action Saturday at the Silver Lake Triangular with a 12:00 p.m. match against Grace Christian University and a 2:00 p.m. matchup with Silver Lake.
