Women's Soccer Releases 2018 Schedule

WATERTOWN, Wis. -- After a second-place regional finish last year, the Sabercats are out to set the record straight.

Recapping 2017

A loss in the regional final in 2017 meant that the Sabercats failed to qualify for NCCAA DII Nationals for the first time since 2011, and for just the second time in the last 11 years. The Sabercats had only three home games last season, which was part of a challenging schedule. All told, the team finished with a 6-8-1 record, including a 3-1-1 record in NCCAA regional play.

Previewing 2018

But the disappointing end to the 2017 season doesn't set them back for this year. Coach Dave Anderson and the Sabercats are eyeing an improved schedule and an exciting season to come. The 2018 schedule holds a few highlights for the Sabercats:

  • Eight home games
  • A home-and-home with Faith Baptist Bible College
  • Eleven games against NCAA DIII opponents
  • Hosting the 2018 NCCAA North Regional Tournament

A First Time for Everything

The Sabercats will face two DIII opponents for the first time in program history:

Cornell College (MWC) - AWAY - Aug. 31

The Sabercats will begin their 2018 campaign with a trip to Iowa to take on Cornell College. The Rams finished the 2017 season on a high note after winning three of their last five games to finish with a 5-14 record.

Blackburn College (SLIAC) - AWAY - Sep. 21

Maranatha will travel south to take on two SLIAC opponents in late September. First up will be Blackburn College, who finished with a 2-6-1 record in SLIAC competition in 2017. After tangling with the Beavers, the Sabercats will face Greenville University on Saturday, Sep. 22.
