Soccer Coaching Realignment

WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Maranatha Athletics has announced a coaching realignment for the 2020 soccer seasons: Jeff Pill will maintain the role of head coach for both the Men's Team and the Women's Team while Taylor Pill fills in as the associate head coach for the Men.

Under the new structure, Jeff Pill will maintain the title of Director of Soccer Operations and oversee both programs, and the father-son duo will split the head-coach responsibilities when the two teams' schedules conflict.

Dr. Lane Hansel and Kevin Risma will become the assistant coaches for the Men while Alyssa Wright returns as the assistant coach for the Women.

"What I'm very excited about is the chance to work with both groups of athletes," Jeff Pill said. "Both groups are filled with people that are passionate about what they are doing, and they want to use their talents for God's glory.

"I think we will be able to have a model where we work out a good balance of time with both programs, so I'm looking forward to having 'twice as much fun', in a sense. It will be exciting to work with two great staffs - people who are committed to the program and want the best for the student-athletes.

"It will be exciting to work on a new model of influence with the program to use our human resources to the greatest potential - I think both programs have exciting potential to put a good product on the field."

"We are excited to have Coach Jeff Pill take over the reins of the women’s program," said MBU Athletic Director, Rob Thompson. "It will add a wealth of experience and stability to the program. Likewise, promoting Taylor Pill to Associate Head coach of the men adds youth and depth of playing experience for the men. Both programs are in capable hands moving forward.”
